After I got back from Batam Tuesday evening, I decided that I should save money and take the train home. Afterall, it’s direct and there is no need to do any major transfer anywhere so I won’t be lost. Furthermore I’ve not stop taking the train that long, I think I still remember how it works.

But sadly for me, I lost my ezlink card cos some bugger picked up my bag which I’ve accidentally dropped beside my car and stole my cash and ezlink card!! Still not happy tho it happened more than a year ago.

Anyways, having only $10 bill, I selected my destination and stuffed it into the GTM. The note came out, I stuffed it in again, thinking it’s cos my note’s crumpled or something. The note came out again and I stuffed it in again. This went on for about 5 times before I stopped and stared at the notice on the GTM — it says $10 not accepted. ARGH!

Thankfully I’m able to get changed at the station control office so I finally bought my one-way ticket.

I was abit confused when I had to transfer to the LRT cos they’ve changed the location where the train would stop at the platform. Just as I was wondering why are these people crowding at the other end of the platform, the LRT train came and stopped right in front of the crowd. FINE!

Alighted at my LRT stop and as I tap my ticket at the gantry, it beeped and flashed “Insufficient Fund”. ARGH!!

If the mama shop wasn’t still open, I would have jumped over the gantry and went on my lala way. BUT! The indian shopowner was staring at me, so sulkingly I walked to the GTM near to the gantry and looking down at the fence I saw this button that says ” Press for door to open”.

HMM!! Not need to top-up I can walk out! So I pressed the button.

The door did open… but it swing and connected with another pole, allowing access to the GTM but I’m still trapped. How smart the design. Once again I looked up and the Indian shopowner was staring at me. I must be the highlight of her boring day.

The shortfall is $1 so I topped-up, got out of the gantry and then, got my $1 deposit back from the GTM. I think it’s the same $1 i’ve put in.

And that, is the end of my adventure that caused me to grow a few grey hair.

It was a crowded long weekend out of the island, waiting to board our ferry we were surrounded by aunties. Aunties dressed in red from head to toe and some even carrying red bags/luggages — all heading for “cruise to nowhere” aka casino on-board.

2 of the aunties next to us started chatting (in Mandarin).

Aunty A: Eh don’t tell my sister you saw me here ok. She doesn’t like me playing jackpot.

Aunty B: Ok ok.

Aunty A: Actually I only play awhile and always come back early.

Aunty B: Uh-huh.

Aunty A: Most times I just go there 走走 (walkabout) only.

Aunty B: Ya, i also like to play 走走.

Approaching 2 years old, I sent in my car for 60,000km servicing last Friday. I know the mileage is pretty high but I’ve only been driving to and fro work =(. It could be worse if my company had not move end last year, trust me.

As per previous servicing, I was looking forward to a clean car inside out but when I collected my car, the exterior looks dirty. Thinking that they had washed but I was unlucky cos it drizzled earlier, I resigned to my fate and drove away.

Later however upon closer inspection, I found stains that were there before the car was sent in for servicing. This clearly shows that they did not wash the car. Very disapppointing.

A day later I got a sms from the service advisor who attended to me to send him a compliment email so his company can get to know him better.

Ofcos.

Email I will send.

Was seated next to a restless old man during treatment yesterday. He was seated before me and the nurse was attending to him inserting the needle and tube to commence chemotherapy. He was fidgeting restlessly in his seat and asked the nurse how long will it take. The nurse informed him about 2 hours. He checked his watch and let out a long sigh.

After him, i was needled and tubed for herceptin and after watching abit of the boring afternoon tv, i fell asleep. The beeping of machinery regulating the infusion of medicine woke me up, but it wasn’t mine, it was the old man’s.

The nurse came to replace his medicine with a bottle of sodium solution and was informed it will take another 2 hours or so. He was greatly disappointed and started grumbling how he has no patient for such lengthy treatments and pestered the nurse to speed up the infusion, which the nurse ofcos did not allowed.

At this point I’m wide awake with all the commotion, the old man turned to me and shared his woe on having to go through the 4 hours treatment. I smiled and told him i had to go through 5-6 hours treatment at one sitting in the past too. He stared at me and how long have i been undergoing treatment. I told him about 1 year.

He rested his head on the armchair and mumbled to himself, “4 hours 1 year?! 4 hours 1 years?!”

I sniggered.

As i leave when my treatment is done i waved goodbye to the old man while he mustered a weak smile back at me.

Did i just truamatise an old man?
