This cracks me up, sadly. Earth day is yesterday by the way.

Last night, I was lying on my bed minding my own business when I saw something crawled across the glass panel of my book shelf in a very brisk manner. Thinking that I’m just seeing things, I stared at the glass panel intently for few seconds. Nothing.
I walked up to the bookshelf looking for any suspicious character and there it is — feelers sticking out of a small container. Not very sure what to do I looked up and GAAH!! Another pair of feelers at the top of the bookshelf door!! I literally jumped away from the bookshelf. The only thing that stopped me from dashing out of the room is that they are only small roaches.
I located the insecticide and sprayed at the bookshelf door, hoping the poisonous gas would kill all the roaches (sofar 2) in the bookshelf. But no!! The one hiding in the small container is apparently very alive with its feelers sticking up in the air.
Dave came to the rescue and he sprayed mercilessly at the small container, making sure the feelers will never move again. I’m not sure if the small roach is killed by the poison or simply blown away by the spray.
This morning, I opened the bookshelf to check the body count — 1 died on another container and 1 still struggling (bleedy hell how resilient are they?!!). This means there are more than 2 roaches cos I’m pretty sure it’s quite impossible for the one in the small container to not die a instant death.
I flicked the struggling one to the floor and Tiga pounced on it. However after seeing that the only thing twitching are its feelers and legs, he lost interest.
I have yet to clean the dead ones in the containers, shudder to think how many more roaches there might be in the bookshelf. Where did they come from anyways?!
ARGH!! I hate roaches!!

So I was away for the weekend at the colony of Singapore. No, not Bintan, the other one — Batam.
Most would frown at the thought of going Batam, cos other than casino and women, there seems to be nothing else to do. I thought the same and I was wrong. They have nice resorts, beach resorts. Not as well known as Bintan, thus less crowded, which works well for me cos it also means better deals.
Cheap deal we got for this 3D2N getaway for $70 per pax (inclusive 2-way ferry excluding tax) at a 3 stars resort with a private beachfront. The resort was peaceful and at times it felt as if we’ve booked the entire place. Shiok lah! But it does make us wonder how on earth do they survive?!
Anywho, as all resorts do, they lure you with cheap deals then they start slaughtering you with exorbitant prices for transport, food and activities.
We enquired about transport to a seafood restaurant located 15minutes away and the 2-way transport price came up to S$30! We almost fainted.
You felt as if you’ve never left Singapore with all everything priced in SGD, afterall it’s our colony.
Weather is good cos it didn’t rained. With hardly anyone around (there are probably more resort employees than guests), I’m free to strut my definitely-not-bikini-ready body and do my first suntan in 6 months.
With the scorching weather, we had hoped for a working aircon that cools. But unfortunately the centralised aircon system provides at best a fan-like breeze, which after a techncian was despatched to check on it, still does not function as it should be.
It was so warm I slept on the couch for some parts of the night cos it was directly under the aircon vent.
We made noise the next morning to be informed that all the rooms are the same and the best solution they could offer is a fan. A fan that made all the difference cos it cooled down the room tremendously. But still, what is this?!!
BUT!! The best part is not all of the above.
Out of the 3 days we were there, there was power shutdown for 2 days. POWER SHUTDOWN IN A RESORT LEH!! This is seriously a first time for me. Hot and dying, we escaped to the pool.
During our suntan session, we were entertained by the resident lizard walking around and SWIMMING in the pool! So glad we were safely on our deckchairs and not in the pool, else we might break the world record flying out of the pool. Gross!
> Sent a request via Speedpost website to get my parcel transferred to the post office nearby office cos no one was home to receive the delivery when it arrived. Went down only to discover the request didn’t go through and my parcel is still sitting happily in Eunos. Gah!
> Overjoyed when I discover Oakley service centre has moved from the very unfriendly CBD to just within walking distance from my office. Went down only to discover it’s their stock-taking day. Gaah!
> Received a letter from the legal agent informing to call a 3rd party to exercise some options, so we can close the case. Called and questioned why this 3rd party is suddenly involved and why it was never mentioned in the whole course of proceeding. The bleeding person on the other end said he is not interested to deal with skeptical clients and to call back when ready to set an appointment to go down. WTH! Gaaah!
The bitch in me almost came out and clawed their faces. Maybe I should. But the fact that I would have no choice but to see them again, I restrained.
GAAAAH!! Pissed.
In other news, I would like to share a short story of the day. Before I begin, a little background — I’m not the most friendly person in office, I don’t usually make small talks with colleagues and on our company access pass, we have our headshot.
Today, my colleague (whom I hardly talk to) suddenly remarked as we were walking towards the pantry that she realised the reason of having a headache — it’s cos she had the company access pass hanging upside down from her neck.
Simply 无厘头. Think I rolled eyes and did the small eyes at the same time.
