I was reading WCIII’s much frequently updated blog and latest was on how youths can hear higher frequency sounds compared to adults. I have my doubts, but it was proven true to me by 2 youths last week in church.
There I was going into screensaver mode in the pew before service starts. 2 boys sitting infront of me were chatting away. Suddenly one of them turned around and shoved his mobile in my face, “Can you hear??”
I gave a blank look for I can’t hear a single thing.
Smugly he turned to his friend and said, “See! I told you older pipple cannot hear this one. Can you hear?”
The other boy nodded his head in a equally smug manner.
Grrr… feel like smacking their heads.
I asked what he was trying to let me hear. He said it’s a “special” ringtone, only young people can hear.
I asked him to play it again. I strained my ears trying to listen. While replaying, the boy told the other, “You know, I played this at home and my mother, aunties, uncle and grandma all also cannot hear leh.”
Gaaah!!
Am I that old already?!
Finally after replaying the “special” ringtone for about 3 times, I hear this faint but super high pitch sound.
Boliao lorzzz.
…
In digression, I chanced upon the result show of Singapore Idol season 2 while channel surfing on Monday. I watched for short but long enough while to get disgusted seeing the SI rejects lipsyncing to their songs.
Seriously, wassup with that man?! This is suppose to be a singing competition, no? I see they finally realise their participants cannot sing for real.
