GSS is coming to an end but my much awaited sales has only just begun. Mango started their sale last week and this week is Zara’s turn — which is what I have been waiting for!

Yesterday is the first day of sale and I rushed down right after my meeting for fear all the good stuff will be snapped up, cos my informant told me when he was there at 11am+, the queue at cashier and fitting room is already in a crazy state. Wahlau eh! No need to work one meh these people. Too much!!

Anyways, I went in and lo and behold, what a crowd. Not really packed packed until cannot move, but the queue at fitting room and cashier is quite spectacular.

Nonetheless I waste no time in making my way to the section where the skirt I’ve been eyeing is located. Much to my dismay there is only L size left. Perhaps I should check out other outlets. Very soon.

As I browse through the mess rack/pile of clothes, I picked up any pieces that has any remote chances of me purchasing.

Must be ruthless during sale you know! If you see something, hesitate and think you can come back for it? You can’t be more wrong! You come back and the item is no more!! So must grab as you go, try it on, if really cannot make it then discard it. Else you bound to have lots of regrets.

So as a very efficient shopper, I systematically browsed the whole shop, grab the stuff I want, try it on, and proceed the cashier with my kill.

Just as I started queuing at the cashier, half the store blacked-out! And what does the typical Singaporean women do? Continue shopping lah, what else!

Happy! What an adrenaline rush.

Last night, I was trying to watch WC, chat on msn and have dinner at the same time when I hear this loud but low siren. Thinking to myself this doesn’t sound usual, I got up and peered out of my balcony’s window.

Fwah~

There are 2 police cars and a rhino!

I check again 5 minutes later and FWAH!!

Now there are 2 police cars, 1 police van, 1 police spacewagon, 1 rhino and 1 FIRE ENGINE!!

They don’t just park anyhow, they got formation one ok! I look at the other side of the block and clearly I’m not the only curious one. There are even kids sitting by the balcony, as if waiting for some good show.

Anyways, no drama happened, to my disappointment and they left. Waste resources leh, come in whole gin gang and for nothing. HomeTeamNS* gathering meh?!

* CDANS (civil defence club) and SPANS (police club) merged to form HomeTeamNS.

2 days.

For 2 days in a row it rained. Angry. Cos I’m not sleeping in and have to make my way to work.

At first I was happy for a while, cos heavy rain means car wash. But then my happiness turned into depression, cos heavy rain also means traffic jams.

The jam was especially bad this morning. 3 lanes merging into 1 at the exit to KJE. As I drive nearer, it became clear that there was a fatal accident. There was a body covered with white canvas in the middle of the lane, feet uncovered. I looked further up and there lay the motorcycle.

My heart chilled. I hate to see such scenes. Who likes right? I cringe whenever I see cats or dogs or birds or whatever lying dead at the side of road, let alone a person.

Already can’t wait to get pass right? The van driving in front of me had to do what typical idiotic drivers do — slow down and look. I really feel like whipping out a baseball bat and whack the fella.

These are the kind of people that aggravates the already bad jam. One word — freaking KPOs! Ok that’s 2 words, but anyways… it’s maddening!

Hope it doesn’t rain anymore tomorrow and no more accidents please.

Sawasdee ka!

Just when you reckon your holiday cannot possibly get any lazier, you can. I surprises myself sometimes.

This recent trip to Phuket is definitely ranked number 1 as the laziest holiday I’ve ever had. Sleeping took up 50% (or maybe more) of the time we spent there.

Pum Phuket

Now I understand it’s not a matter of how nua you can get but who you travel with. Travelling with the right person can definitely inspire you to new level of nua-ness.

I mean, you can be really nua by nature but if you travel with a busy bee, you will have to compromise and accommodate right? Even tho I sleep most times when I’m tanning on the beach (which I can do very well on my own), it does get lonely sometimes.

Imagine, you wake up from your sleep on the beach, discover your travelling partner is still busy in the sea and you are surrounded by beach hawkers.

So lonely! Sob~

Nah! Not really lah. I can deal with it. Just go back to sleep or get some massage lor.

But it’s time to rejoice! For I’ve found the ultimate travelling buddy — who sleeps as much as me, loves beach tanning as much as me (infact more than me), loves massaging as much as me, and is willing to waste a whole day in the hotel room just sleeping and watching crappy movies. Where to find this kind of buddy you tell me?!! You can seek forever for this perfect someone but you may not find.

I know to many people my kind of holiday sounds like a total waste of time, but well, everyone has their own preferences and holiday objectives right? Heck care lah. I’m happy can le.

I like sniffing the air of my holiday destinations when I touch down, it always smells sweet.

The sun rises on a typical school day. His little girl is bawling her eyes out, giving ten thousand and one reasons why she doesn’t want to go school today. The real reason is actually cos his little girl has forgotten to do the homework due today and is scared to death what the consequence will be at school.

Not relenting, he brought his little girl downstairs to wait for the school bus. His little girl still trying desparately trying to wriggle her way out of going school. Finally the school bus came. She sobbed clenching his hand and asked him to come visit her during recess.

Meanwhile at school, the terrifying moment came as the teacher asked for submission of homework due. Standing up on trembling legs, the little girl waited for the punishment. To her relief, she found herself not the only one standing up. Punishment was a smack on the palm with a ruler. It doesn’t feel as bad as she had imagined. Things are well again and the load has been lifted from her little heart.

Recess came, a familiar figure stood at a corner of the canteen. Walking and chatting happily with friends, she has plain forgotten her request to Dad in the morning and was too engrossed in the conversation to notice him. He tapped her shoulder lightly. Stunned, she turned around and is delighted to see him. He gave her a big hug and seeing that she is now happily enjoying herself, he sends her running to her friends. He briskly make his way back to work where he has specially taken time out to keep his promise to his little girl.

Tho this happened when I was 7 years old, it left a deep impression cos Dad showed by action he takes every promises he made seriously. Thanks for loving me Dad. I love you too. Wishing you a blessed father’s day!

The sky is still dark, but my alarm has already went off and time has come for me to drag myself out of bed and get dressed for the big day. Nope nope, not my big day, but Kat’s.

Feeling a little grumpy (cos the sky is still dark), I dug into my wardrobe for pink clothings. Yep, the reason why I’m up so early is cos I’m tasked to be one of the sisters, who according to tradition shall negotiate for big ang pow from the groom, and yep the dress code is pink. I dressed in the pinkest possible manner, which is totally not me cos I don’t wear pink very frequently. I felt like barbie doll.

Time set for sisters to reach her house is 7.30am. I grabbed an apple and dashed out the door for she stays at the other end of the island.

Has never been on the road at this unearthly hours, never did I expect the traffic would be heavier than the later hours that I usually travel in. So with the little jams here and there, I was late.

Reached her place just in time before the groom and his band of brothers arrive. Wouldn’t want to be stuck outside the door with all the smelly boys, would I?

The boys arrived and fierce negotiation ensued. In no time, the groom was perspiring like mad, as were all his brothers cos it was so humid and stuffy! Even the sisters were perspiring like crazy.

Not willing to make it easy for the boys, challenges and tasks were listed to be fulfilled. While the craziness are going on, I was munching on the lian rong pau Kat’s mom has specially bought for me.

Finally, time came for the groom to hand over the reward for the sisters. When the ang pow is opened, there were sighs of disappointment and the sisters proceed to close the wooden front door. Shall not reveal the figure but from the reaction I’m sure you can tell it’s… quite… little.

We showed Kat the ang pow and she yelled from the room, “Ask him to go home lah~”.

Finally, after an hour, the perspiration-soaked groom is granted access to his bride.

Went home for a quick nap after following the couple to and fro the 2 families for tea ceremony, overslept and again dashed out to the hotel to help as one of the receiptionists.

Thinking that I’m late, I ran up to the suite and discovered that I’m infact the earliest. Basket.

Kat was doing her drama make-up and big hair, true to her style — mamasan style, she looked fabulous. She was beaming that the make-up artist commented she resembles Wong Li Lin.

Congrats woman! Don’t be so birdy and stop bullying your hubby so much ok! Haha!!

Have you done that lately?

Since young I’ve always loved a clear blue sky. A sky with not a trace of clouds. It looked so happy to me. Unfortunately since I’m living on this humid little island, it’s a rare sight. But I’m happy to catch a glimpse of it in the blue moon it occurs or even just a corner of the clear sky.

Imagine my elation when I got to Australia. It being the driest continent on earth, has clear blue sky everyday! I would stand in the middle of my uni campus and just stare at the beauty of the sky. I must have looked like a fool, but heck! I want to enjoy my moment.

Quit rushing around and slow down. It’s good to be a fool sometimes. Have your moment.
