It is with the most sorrowful and heavy heart that I announce my car has suffered a massive heart attack, no pacemaker can help this time round, a replacement of heart is required.

That fateful day, I was cruising along the first lane on the expressway when the car suddenly jerked and stalled. When it jerked, I heard explosion and some metal piece came loose and went “cling cling cling” around the engine area.

White smoke burst out of the bonnet and I was forced to filter to the shoulder lane. I got down to check thinking that the bumper has fallen off.

Nope, nothing. Which means something worse has happened.

True enough, I opened up the bonnet and saw engine oil splattered all over the place.

Tow truck was summoned immediately, but coz of peak hour traffic, it didn’t reach until 45minutes later. And guess what I did during that 45minutes?

I slept.

Don’t laugh. I was really tired that day and was planning to go home early to rest, but alas Murphy’s Law.

Anyways, car was towed to the workshop, the tow truck driver was really talkative, kept telling me about the cars he towed and how he had to work long hours coz not enough drivers etc etc. I fought hard not falling asleep.

Finally we arrived at the workship and after inspecting the engine, the mechanic pointed out a hole in our engine block and informed that a change of engine is required.

That instant lightning flashed before us and we went into the great depression. Wahlau eh! Change engine means spending lots of money leh!

It came up to about $2k. Burned a big hole in my pocket. Sob!

The culprit.

Can’t figure out? Ok, give you another chance.

Got it?

YES!! The freaking lamps are hanging off the lamp post!! In a most hazardous manner and endangering the lives of numerous motorists driving by on both side of the road (this is a very busy main road).

In addition to the uncountable pot holes, we present to you the “hanging street lamps” from the streets of Johore Bahru.

Seriously, what is this man?!!

I was just minding my own business and enjoying the dinner with MB when this group of guys came in, sat down, ordered beers and started looking in my direction.

They were not discreet and continued staring in my direction. Suddenly there was a shout of “Ooooo!” and “Aahhh!”.

I looked up.

There was a tv right above my head.

And it was telecasting an English Premier League match.

One of my pet peeves is buses that come late. It happened so often and so atrociously that one day I came to a point  I couldn’t stand it anymore and gave both the bus driver and the customer service hotline a big piece of my mind.

When I relate this incident to my friends, they say I’m a bitch. Wait 45 minutes for bus to work?! Tell me I should be angry or not! Anyways shan’t go into further details on the incident.

I complained alot about the bus services in Melbourne when I first got there, it was a whole new world and system to me. It was much less frequent than Singapore bus services and the routes are not very accessible. If you don’t stay near the tram/bus stop/train station or drive. Too bad. Walk.

But because of their long intervals – usually 20minutes during peak and 1 hour during off-peak, they have the bus service timetable at each of the bus stops.

It’s amazing how the buses will arrive on the dot. The timetable is a good thing because you can now take note of the time and plan your schedule and walk out just in time to catch the bus.

Ofcoz when you wake up late and there is only 5minutes left to the arrival the bus and that the next bus will only arrive 20minutes later, you will run with all your might. Properly dressed or not.

Somedays, you will be waiting at the bus stop obediently, 5minutes to the arrival time of the bus. You waited, and waited, and waited, and another guy joined you and both of you were waiting like idiots in the freezing winter wind.

Time scheduled for the arrival of next bus has past but still no sight of bus. The 2 of you looked at each other and suddenly it dawned on you. You took out your mobile and call the customer service hotline stated at the bottom of the timetable.

“Sorry mate, we are on strike today.”

You feel like killing someone.

I’m an absolute sucker for chick flicks. It’s light, it doesn’t require much thinking (I hate movies that leave me wondering what had just happened in the past 2 hours), it’s funny and most importantly, it makes you feel good. Life is hard enough as it is, why make yourself suffer with heavy movies?!

There has been a stack of DVDs piling on my coffee table (and growing) waiting for me to “find time” and watch them. Finally, I got down to watching 2 of them yesterday.

The first was a total nonsensical HK movie, so nothing much to talk about. The second one was Just Like Heaven — the typical kind of chick flick I dig. Plus I really like Reese Witherspoon.

It was so nice! Though it left me a little misty-eyed at the end, which all chick flick movie does at one point or the other, it was good.

This was the kind Sunday I love — sleeping in, watching TV/DVD, dining in, basically not rushing to go anywhere or do anything. Rejuvenates me for another work week in the real world.

And as Daryl says in the movie, “Righteous!”.

Today, we were stopping at a traffic light during lunchtime when the car behind gave me a honk. Kat turned back and the driver was gesturing frantically to her. Kat caught no ball but commented that the driver is quite goodlooking, which stopped me from giving him the death stare (I hate being honked at by strangers). I wind down the window to see what he is trying to tell me. He stuck his head out and yelled, “Number plate!!”.

I suddenly realised what he is trying to say and had this sinking feeling that I’ve dropped my number plate. Gone. No more.

I drove on slowly. When we reach our lunch destination, I checked the back of the car and there it is – the number plate dangling by the last piece of double sided tape (yep, the number plate is not screwed on). Never have I been this happy to see my number plate.

My car is really the death of me lately ever since it was resprayed. Started with the left speaker not working, followed by the handle of the glovebox breaking, now the number plate. Hai~

Baring the backside.

I went for a meeting at Parkview Square yesterday and was actually quite excited coz I’ve heard so much about this building, so mysterious you know.

*tinkling with excitement*

First, there are these 4 huge statues at the top of the building, even the person whom I’m suppose to meet tell me his office is at the building that looks like Gotham City. Haha!! Got batman or not, Gotham City sial…

Then I heard that not any Tom Dick or Harry can rent an office space in this building, only by invitation wor. Don’t know how true is that lah.

Even the carpark ticket also stylo milo!

Then hor, they have doorman! They greet you and open the door for you when you walk in from carpark to the lift lobby leh. I feel so important. Haha!! Totally self-deceptive.

And then, after meeting we went down to the main lobby on level 1 and fwah~ x 10,000!! There is a bar/bistro right smack in the middle of the lobby, with a high platform for live performance completed with piano, drums etc. And, and the whole ceiling and wall is covered with gothic, Leonardo Da Vinci kind of drawings, with bronze trimmings. Super duper extravagant lor!! Madness I tell you.

I think I also saw a courtyard outside the lobby with big bronze statues, but I didn’t venture out. The lobby already impressed me enough.

Now, the next thing is to look for Batman (I want Christian Bale NOT Michael Keaton). Keke..

He can be my hero any day.
