Grump was lamenting how the kids on Australian’s Brainiest Kid seem so deprived of their childhood. That having ballet, piano, computer, tuition and now they participate in this kind of quiz show to stress themselves out (which I suspect many would be Asians).

I was telling her I recalled on an episode of Singapore’s Brainiest Kid, this little bespectacled boy was sharing about his CCA (no long called ECA coz ministry say it is not extra ok!).

So, what do we know, his CCA is Maths Club, and they stay back every Thursday afternoon to solve maths problems!!

Yes Grump, so “happy” their childhood.

During lunchtime few days ago, my CTO was walking in front of my co-workers and I to the lift. He went in… then he came out and took the other lift. We thought it was coz the lift was going up instead of going down to the basement carpark.

We press for the lift and the door of the 1st lift my CTO went in opened. We went in, wanting to press the button “B1″, then we realise why our CTO walked out earlier.

The “B1″ button was not there. Only wires sticking out from the hole.

Our fingers hung in mid air meaning to press the “B1″ button, we just frozed, suddenly at a loss of what to do and I was praying that the lift does not close its door now and travel to the upper floors. The security at this moment rushed to the lift’s door and sheepishly inform us that the “B1″ button is not working.

Not working?! You mean it’s not there.

Another “what the…?!!” moment. We took the stairs in the end.

Tara: Every time I- even when I’m at my worst … you always make me feel special. How do you do that?

Age

I have been thinking a lot about age lately. I think my 20s have flew past too fast, I just had to stop and ponder.

Remember how we thought we are so old and wise when we were 16 years old? And when we turn 21 we thought we are damn matured liaoz. Matured enough to make all decisions. Which we now know, is not true.

Now at the ripe old age of 28 looking at teens and youths of 16 years old and 21 years old, they seem so young and immatured in many ways.

Perhaps as I look back when I’m 38, I’ll find 28 year-olds childish too.

I love this sweet called Starburst. I discovered it when I was studying in Melbourne and fell in love with it since. It comes in jellybean, fruitchews, lollipop or gummy-bear fruit-shaped chewy ones. No prize for guessing which one I like best, the last one which I spend so many words describing ofcoz!

Sadly when Starburst entered Singapore not long ago, they did not bring in the one that I love. But thankfully there are people who travels to Oz ocassionally and recently Kat discovered a shop in town (I totally forgot where and what it’s called) that sells all sorts of Aussie goodies, including the gummy-bear Starburst. The joy!

She bought a pack to office and while we were snacking, I asked her which flavour she likes best — there are strawberry, orange, lemon, grape and apple. She said anything but orange. She has never like orange since young and everytime the row of yakult at home comes down to 2 bottles, one of it would be orange, and her older brother knowing how she dislikes orange will quickly drink the other flavour knowing full well the last bottle will belong to him. So naughty!

Upon hearing that, I looked into the pack of Starburst, with a few pieces left, I took out all other flavours but orange and returned to her. The look on her face when she peer into the pack was priceless. Haha!!

I returned the other flavours and took the orange ones in the end lah ofcoz. I’m not such a bully lah.

Yummy! I like Starburst.

XWen just went Australia and New Zealand for a 3-months backpacking trip. 2 months were spent packing apples in Melbourne and 1 month were spent splurging all the earnings made from packing apples in New Zealand.

XWen bought me a fat bird thingy she insist is kiwi.

That was what happened on the latest season premiere of The Oprah Winfrey Show. She gave away free cars to every studio audience last year and now she is giving away free man. Seriously trying super hard to outdo herself.

Get this…

Another audience member, Gwendolyn Havers, said her years of watching Oprah instead of dating had “finally paid off.”

Watching Oprah instead of dating?! What the….?!!

The seven audience members who declined their men, saying that they were too insecure about their weight to feel confident in a romantic relationship, were instead treated to all-expenses-paid weekends at the Omni Hotel in downtown Chicago.

I’ll opt for the weekend hotel stay anytime.

One of the most amazing thing about MB is his ability to sleep anywhere, anytime. That used to be my specialty, but lately he has surpass me with a sudden leap and I have not been able to contest with him since.

Here’s a countdown on the most amazing place/situation MB fell asleep.

10. In front of the TV
- Not really amazing since many is able to do so but he manages to fall asleep every single time.

9. During a movie in cinema

8. During church worship service

7. On the bus/MRT

6. At the warm-up/warm-down corner in gym
- Not your neighbourhood gym, but one of the gyms in town ok.

5. On a 5-minutes ferry trip
- This happened when we went to Xiamen, China during Christmas in 2002. Must be the cold weather. I can sleep forever in cold weather too.

4. While driving
- Now, this is really really dangerous. Some of us may have experience dozing off at the wheels. I’ve done that too. Simply too tired.

3. While surfing the Internet on his computer at home
- He dozed off while the pages were loading. Talk about short attention span.

2. During class in school/tuition
- He is the teacher not the student in this case.

And finally the number 1 most amazing place/situation MB fell asleep is…

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

1. During a quarrel with me
- In the brief moment we stopped agruing, he actually fell asleep!! I was so mad I wanted to break his neck.

Have you fell asleep at any other place/situation just as amazing?
