There is a new marine fish tank set up by some of my co-workers at the entrance of the office. In the big fish tank lies corpses of fish from the older and smaller tank. There are also pieces of charcoal. These, as they explained is to stablise the ammonia level in the water, or else whatever marine creature they put in, will not survive.

Among all these, there is a little nemo. Alive still. It is the sole survivor from the old tank and many thought it will die soon after it’s being placed in the new tank. But more than one week has passed and it is still surviving.

Every morning when I come into office, I will check if the little nemo is still swimming around. I feel a tinge of sadness that death will be inevitable when the ammonia level will eventually surge before the water stablise. It is afterall a unique life, though it’s only a fish.

The old marine tank never caught my eyes when it’s filled with fish and corals, but when little nemo persist on as the sole survivor, I can’t help but take a second look.

Such is life, even a little fish will cling on if they can.
